This is our modern day baby book! It is our prayer that years from now, Zeke and Adalynn will look back at the details of this blog and understand just how much we looked forward to meeting them and love them!

A letter to Zeke

Dear Zeke,
         As I have been reflecting during my quiet times, I’ve realized there are several things I’d like you to come to understand as you grow.  First, Jesus loves you.  That may sound too basic, but it’s essential to know that we love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).  I pray every day that you will choose to accept Jesus as your personal savior.  It is imperative that you understand that Jesus is the only way to God.  He died on the cross to cleanse us of our sins and give us the gift of eternity with Him.  This is not exclusive (as some may tell you) because everyone has the freedom to choose Him!  I chose Him in the sixth grade, but really started walking with him in college.  It has been amazing to see what God has taught me over the years.  When I look back, I wonder how He could possibly teach me that much again, but He can and He will.  He desires to be in a relationship with us, and for us to talk to Him and read His Word.

I pray that you will be surrounded by godly friends and mentors as you grow up too.  My Christian sisters (Teresa, Dena, Christy, Jill, and many others) have helped to hold me accountable as we’ve walked alongside one another.  I pray that you will strive to please God, not because of Daddy or me, but because you truly love God.  I hope you submit to Him and desire to keep His commandments.  They show your heart for the Lord, and are not something you need to do to prove yourself.  If you truly know Him, you will desire to keep his commands (1 John 2:3).

As you will come to learn, taking care of our physical bodies is a part of honoring God.  This is important to me, and I pray you will embrace this and live a life of good health.  I desire to see you grow up, figure out what the Lord is calling you to do for work, and have a family of your own (if that's His will for you).  I already pray for your wife!  As things happen in life, though, that don’t go the way you plan, I pray you continue to seek God’s will and trust Him.  Jesus said that in this world, we will have trouble, but He has overcome the world (John 16:33).  My life verse is Proverbs 3:5-8 (a life verse is section of scripture that is impactful over the years).

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.

(Proverbs 3:5-8)

I trust Him through the good and the bad times.  I feel honored that He has blessed me beyond measure (with Daddy and you, especially).  I thank Him for the privilege of being a wife to Daddy and your Mommy.  I love you, sweet boy!

                                                                      Love,
                                                                      Mommy
